【摘要】:Aruggednesstestisaspecialapplicationofastatisticallydesignedexperiment.Itisgenerallycarriedoutwhenitisdesirabletoexaminealargenumberofpossiblefactorstodeterminewhichofthesefactorsmighthavethegreatesteffectontheoutcomeofatestmethod.Statisticaldesignenablesmoreaccuratedeterminationofthefactoreffectsthanwouldbeachievedifseparateexperimentswerecarriedoutforeachfactor.Theproposeddesignsareeasytouseandareefficientindevelopingtheinformationneededforevaluatingquantitativetestmethods.Inruggednesstesting,thetwolevelsforeachfactorarechosentousemoderateseparationsbetweenthehighandlowsettings.Ingeneral,thesizeofeffects,andthelikelihoodofinteractionsbetweenthefactors,willincreasewithincreasedseparationbetweenthehighandlowsettingsofthefactors.Ruggednesstestingisusuallydonewithinasinglelaboratoryonuniformmaterial,sotheeffectsofchangingonlythefactorsaremeasured.Theresultsmaythenbeusedtoassistindeterminingthedegreeofcontrolrequiredoffactorsdescribedinthetestmethod.RuggednesstestingispartofthevalidationphaseofdevelopingastandardtestmethodasdescribedinGuideE1488.Itispreferredthataruggednesstestprecedesaninterlaboratory(roundrobin)study.1.1Thispracticecoversconductingruggednesstests.Thepurposeofaruggednesstestistoidentifythosefactorsthatstronglyinfluencethemeasurementsprovidedbyaspecifictestmethodandtoestimatehowcloselythosefactorsneedtobecontrolled.1.2Thispracticerestrictsitselftodesignswithtwolevelsperfactor.Thedesignsrequirethesimultaneouschangeofthelevelsofallofthefactors,thuspermittingthedeterminationoftheeffectsofeachofthefactorsonthemeasuredresults.1.3Thesystemofunitsforthispracticeisnotspecified.Dimensionalquantitiesinthepracticearepresentedonlyasillustrationsofcalculationmethods.Theexamplesarenotbindingonproductsortestmethodstreated.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
